Rye’s Newest PD Officer Graduates from Westchester County Police Academy

A new Rye PD officer, William Plimpton, has graduated from the Westchester County Police Academy.

Plimption was one of sixty new officers who completed 20 weeks of training at the police academy in Valhalla and received their diplomas during a ceremony at Purchase College of the State University of New York on Friday, May 25, 2018.

On Twitter, Rye Commissioner of Public Safety Michael C. Corcoran, Jr. said "Congratulations to Rye’s newest Officer, William Plimpton, and to all graduates of the 145th Session of the Westchester County Police Academy! Best wishes for a safe career!"

Rye resident and County Boss George Latimer addressed the graduates of the 145th Session Basic Police Recruit Class, and praised them for mastering the physical and academic demands of the Academy. Latimer said: “I want to congratulate all the graduates, and their family members and loved ones who are present. Police work is a challenging profession, and I want to urge these officers to never lose sight of the ideals that brought them here- the desire to be a protector and serve their community with fairness, compassion and integrity.”
