Al’s Service Station, with Three Generations of Mechanics Beloved by Customers, Leaves Rye

It almost happened back in 2006.

They say good people are hard to find. And good mechanics – three generations of good mechanics and  genuinely nice people – that's next to impossible.

After a long run, Al's Service Station on Rye's Boston Post Road is moving to Port Chester.

This writer is devastated. The Rovellos – Al Senior, Al Junior and Al Junior's son Nick are as nice as they come. Al's Service, with its two repair bays and a basic but friendly office with a waiting table always adorned with a copy of the New York Post, is what a local business should be. Easy and friendly.

In a sign posted over the holiday, the service station announced it will move to "a larger facility" at 314 Willett Avenue in Port Chester as of Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

The phone number remains 914-835-1888. We wish the Rovellos continued good luck.
