Hotels in Rye

A few people have been asking, and there is only one hotel in all of Rye--Courtyard by Marriott. This friendly mid-priced hotel is on Midland Avenue just off I-95. The hotel sits on the City line, adjacent to Port Chester and next to the Portchester Home Depot. Hey, if there is anything you don't like about your room, you can go next door and get remodeling supplies.

The next closest hotel is the Rye Town Hilton that is actually not in Rye, but in Rye Brook, north of the City and just south of Greenwich.

If you want to spread your wings further, start looking in Greenwich or White Plains.

Storyland in Glen, NH

It has been there since 1954, but our first visit was this past weekend. Storyland, in Glen, New Hampshire in the White Mountains, is an amusement park but with New England sensibility and built for kids and their parents (not for adults and not for teenagers). If you have kids between 3 and 8 or 9, Storyland is a great destination for a long weekend. We did the trip in a 2-day weekend and the drive back was brutal (7 hours).
