Call it a victim of the Portchester 14. The Journal News reports the Rye Ridge Cinema will close on Tuesday, January 1st. The two screen neighborhood cinema joins the old Family Discount in Harrison as a victim of various chains and megaplexes.
We went to see Woody Allen's Match Point at the new MEGA plex Loews theater in Portchester, part of the new massive store-mall thing next to the Costco. Cute neighborhood theater this is not. In fact the snack bar (photo) makes the place look like Vegas. But the seats are comfortable, and like the theater, the leg room is MEGA too. There are 14 (count 'em) screens in this place, so if your movie is not here, well, just wait for the DVD.
