When Rye Town Park goers were surveyed on why RTP needs a new restaurant, they gave eight top answers.

This is a fictional, although likely in our view, answer to such a survey. And with the death of Seaside Johnnies, there is hope for better food.
Now is the chance to have your voice heard in regards to the future of Rye Town Park.
A team of four urban planning graduate students from the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University is mailing postcards to 25,000 households in Rye City and the surrounding area imploring citizens to complete a survey on their views of the park.
Let's hope these students come up with an enlightened view of the future of this park. It is a real gem, but its current management seems, to be generous, uninspired. The park is managed by the Town of Rye, a separate legal entity from the city of Rye, and by all accounts, an anachronism.
The Town of Rye is a vestige from 1660 (seriously) and encompasses the Villages of Port Chester and Rye Brook and the Rye Neck section of the Village of Mamaroneck. Its sole remaining governance for the most part is to oversee a couple parks and cemeteries.

NYU Capstone Team Rolls Out Community Survey and Public Meeting Materials to Plan The Future of Rye Town Park.
The NYU Capstone “Team Sound View” is working with the Town of Rye, NY to identify and engage stakeholders in Rye Town Park/Oakland Beach, to assist in formulating a park mission and vision statement.
As part of the project they are also investigating case studies of comparable parks, and determining an appropriate framework for measuring park success.
The Capstone Team is composed of four urban planning graduate students from the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University. They are appealing to all members of the community to provide information on their experience at Rye Town Park/Oakland Beach.
With the assistance of community members and local elected officials, they have compiled a 15-minute online survey to gather community input. The results of this survey will inform the research being conducted on behalf of the Town of Rye. People can access this survey [here].
In addition to the online survey, they will also be hosting two public forums to be held at the Rye Free Reading Room, located at 1061 Boston Post Rd, Rye, NY 10580, on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 9:30AM-11:00AM and Monday, March 6, 2017 from 7:30PM-9:00PM.
For people unable to attend either Public Forum, the team will also be available for an open discussion at T & J Restaurant & Pizzeria, located at 10 Pearl St, Port Chester, NY 10573, on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 12:00PM.
To spread the word about the online survey and public events, the Team is mailing out a postcard to 25,000 households, nearly 69,000 people, in the City of Rye, and Town of Rye, encompassing the Village of Port Chester, the Village of Rye Brook, and the Rye Neck section of the Village of Mamaroneck.
