Your can get a personalized "ballot" to compare races at Vote411.org. You have to put on your address and it is not the most intuitive design, but the information is comprehensive and non-partisan.
In terms of local races, here is what we have:
Rye City Council: Richard Mecca and Richard Slack are running unoppossed on Democratic, Republican and Conservative lines.
NY Assembly District 91: Former Rye Mayor and current Assemblyman Steve Otis is running unoppossed for re-election on the Democratic line.
NY Senate District 37: Rye resident and current State Senator George Latimer is running on the Democratic and Working Family lines against challenger and Yonkers resident Joe Dillon on the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.
State races for Governor, Attorney General and Comptroller. Most notable is Westchester County Exec Rob Astorino is running on the Republican, Conservative and Independent lines against incumbent Andrew Cuomo on the Working Family, Independence, Independent and Democratic lines. Astorino has a snowball's chance in hell, but the race will raise his state and national profile.
US Congressional District 16. Eliot Engel is running unopposed on the Democratic and Working Family lines. This seat is so locked in for the Dems (and always has been) that Engel could do anything or nothing and he'd still get re-elected.
State-wide Proposals
Proposal #1 is about re-districting and a proposed new process. Hard to tell the good and bad on the details but here is a write-up. The League of Women Voters says to vote Yes.
Proposal #2 is about allowing electronic distribution of state legislative bills. Seems like a no-brainer Yes vote – why on earth do these thing still need to be printed? Even the Rye City Council gave this up years ago now…
Proposal #3 is about a $2 billion bond act to put technology and high speed Internet into the schools.
