A concern among parents for decades, Drug Awareness is a critical topic that will be explored in the next Heard in Rye Speaker Series lecture. Thomas Grimes, an original member of the New York Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Strike Force who recently retired from a 20-year-long career as a detective, will present critical information on the dangers of and ways to prevent drug use.

Heard in Rye Tom Grimes

Detective Grimes, whose investigations of Organized Crime and Narcotics Trafficking have brought him everywhere from the streets of New York City to the jungles of South America, will be joined by Devin McCrossan, an inspiring speaker and leader on the topic of substance abuse. McCrossan, who was an excellent student and athlete as a teen, struggled with drug dependency during his senior year of high school His journey in recovering from addiction prompted him to co-found the Fourth Dimension Recovery service and become the youngest trained and certified interventionist in the world.

Together, Grimes and McCrossan will educate teens and parents about the destructive consequences of addiction while also providing advice on how to address this topic with teens in order to prevent substance abuse. All are welcome to attend this important presentation on Thursday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rye High School Performing Arts Center located at 1 Parsons Street.
