"Hello All: I wanted to share with concerned parents that the Rye City Manager, Police Commissioner and various police administrative staff have been in continuous communication with Rye Schools since the Hommocks School alert earlier this week. With the full support of the Rye School Superintendent, enhanced police presence with uniformed and non-uniformed officers have been present. We will work with School Administration on ongoing security needs as well as with the Board of Education on long-term school security strategies."

If the Mayor is so concerned about our children and our schools why did he cheat the schools and the children out of School Tax money? Hypocrite is his name.

Doug may have checked the box on the application and signed that he was not already receiving a STAR exemption on another property, but he payed it back once he was caught! Doesn’t that count for something?
There are roads to build, sidewalks to make safer. We have things to do. And all you people care about is the honesty and integrity of the City and it’s officials. So French re-constructed a house without obtaining the proper permits and CO’s and then lied about it on TV. In my mind, it doesn’t really matter. Doug still has my vote even if he is a cheat.

Great stuff but the bigger money lost by the city and school district here is likely not the decade long illegal STAR Exemption at $17K – but cumulative effect of the home’s basic tax status for every year Mr. French has owned it. Based on Leon’s research, Mr. French paid (and possibly still pays) his property taxes on 13 Richard Place based on an “unimproved 2 family house” with the certificate of occupancy drawn in 1949 and no changes on the assessor’s property card through last December. In reality, he now claims the house is an IMPROVED SINGLE FAMILY home.
In Rye 2 family property taxes are generally lower than single family home property taxes – and improved structures always get higher assessments than unimproved structures. This hidden assessment status benefit, plus the improvements hidden away from the assessor, both extended for over 2 decades of French family ownership is, to paraphrase Willie Sutton, “where the money is.”
As far as we know Mr. French has not been officially asked to account for – or repay – the city for any of this apparent 13 Richard Place property tax subterfuge. As always, you can see all the supporting documents relating to these issues in this story and its related now famous video.

@ French 4 Mayor1013, It amazes me that French believes he will be successful for a run in 2013. The only thing he will accomplish in running is he will once again embarrass his family, supporters & few friends that he has left. Even Rico the family pooch will be embarrassed should he decide to run.
French is vindictive and if I know him, he will try to create a problem for Sack should Joe decide to run. Not that it will affect the outcome but it will account for a lot of mudslinging.
Personally I think he has had enough of politics. He only did this to climb the social ladder in Rye and that blew up in his face. Astorino’s going to run from him like a hot potato as it gets closer to the elections.
Should French decide to run without the blessing from the ninth floor in White Plains, it’s my bet you will see him criminally charged with his tax fraud escapades from the County DA’s office. His best bet is to keep his mouth shut, put his tail between his legs & walk into the sunset side by side with Rico. That would save us all from one more scandal in Rye.

If French does decide to run in November he better pay his 2012 Rye School taxes first. He wouldn’t want anyone to get the impression he is capable of doing anything illegal, improper or unethical.
According to the City of Rye, French is delinquent because he has not paid the 2012 school taxes on his rental home at 13 Richard Place. 13 Richard Place is where French also illegally received a 10 year star exemption.
French has gone from paying an improper and illegal amount to not paying at all.
I thought once you took an illegal star exemption you were prohibited from taking another star tax exemption for 5 years. Why does French still have a star exemption on his Meadow Place home?

WHY DID IT ASLO TAKE YEARS FOR THEM TO “FINALLY” BUDGET FOR AFTERNOON DISMISSAL CROSSING GUARDS AT THE RHS/RMS CROSSINGS?
AND THEN TO ONLY TELL US THAT THE NEW CROSSING GUARDS MAY BE PLACED AT OTHER LOCATIONS AND NOT THERE?
I WONDER HOW PROUD THE RPD WAS OF THE MAYOR FOR TELLING THE WORLD OF THEIR “UNDERCOVER” STATUS AT THE SCHOOLS LAST WEEK?

WE HAD 3 PATROL CARS VISIBLY AT THE RMS/RHS & OSBORN, NO PATROL CARS AT MIDLAND OR MILTON..,..GUESS THOSE CHILDREN DON’T COUNT???

I was asked to write my concerns and opinions on a certain subject in an email and to please tone down the “CAPS & PUNCUATIONS”….THAT WAS WAY BACK IN NOVEMBER WHEN CONNORS GAVE HIS PD BUDGET PRESENTATION FILLED WITH LIES, and I am still waiting for that reply???
