From Rye PD this morning (Tuesday):
Most weather impact of storm has passed, but hazards remain. Stay away from live wires, fallen trees; limit travel.
Most of the impact of Hurricane Sandy has passed; winds have decreased and flood waters have receded. However, there are numerous downed trees and wires throughout the City that still pose a danger. Please limit travel unless absolutely necessary; "sightseeing" puts you and utility workers at risk. Avoid downed wires; always assume that they are live.Stay away from fallen or hanging branches and trees, which can shift, move, and cause serious injury. Please watch children carefully and keep them away from hazardous locations. Restoration efforts will take time; please be aware of and avoid hazards during that period.
